Sunday night I went to foothillsbrewing in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. My friend d.loftinjr was playing the trumpet with the house band that is there on Sunday evenings. I also got to catch up with mrscook6.6.15 and try some great beers!

I have had their core beers before and their Hoppyum is actually the beer I give credit to for getting me into craft beer. I call it my gateway IPA. I ordered their quesadilla and a flight of beers.

First I had Good Ship Wit, a witbier. It had a wheat scent, but the taste was floral and zesty with orange notes. It is very light and refreshing. I don’t usually go for witbiers, but I really enjoyed this one.
Then I had the newest in their Craft Happiness Project series, Digs IPA. The aroma is hoppy and fruity. Citrus and citrus zest are strong flavors in the taste. It’s hoppy and fruity with a dry finish.
Next up was their Stout. It smells roasty and chocolatey. The taste followed the smell along with a richness. There is a coffee note on the finish. It’s so good!
Lastly I tried Bourbon Barrel Aged Sexual Chocolate. Foothills Brewing releases a Sexual Chocolate every year, so this is their 2020 version barrel aged and infused with cocoa. You can smell the booze! Bourbon is very present on the nose. It tastes strong as well. The booze has a slight burn. It has rich chocolate and bourbon flavors all the way through. Yum!

Foothills Brewing has one goal in mind and that is Craft Happiness. They achieved that tonight! We left happy and with our bellies full after great conversation and nice music in the background. If you are in Winston-Salem this is a great place to grab a beer and some bites!
