Gordian Knot Rum

Apropos to the day and the times we live in comes today's rum discovery, #gordianknotrum, an 80 proof blend from Bardstown, KY aged in white oak casks promising a borbonesque quality on par with the finest whiskies and cognacs. To my tongue, the flavor is as complex as its namesake with a nose of pipe tobacco that sits full in the mouth with a earthy, spicy tone.

Not by intention but, as coincidences are always mined and appreciated, my Kentucky rum brings to mind today's running of the Kentucky Derby which I normally don't give a cathole's regard as it seems every pretentious douche bag with bowtie and hoop skirt fetish seem drawn to the overblown anachronistic annual shindig of the rich and behatted. But, of course, their fun little day was interrupted by the political rabble convening on their posh greens to argue the value of a life. And now, both sides are armed and appear to be ready to draw a bead on each other because it ratchets up the respective bases. The whole thing is all convoluted and indecipherable.

Like a Gordian Knot.

So, I pair up this complex Caribbean blend of Bluegrass origin with #donaflorandhertwohusbands by #jorgeamado and contemplate the conflicts to come.
